This course has been created using the book “Prioritize, Organize … The Art of Getting It Done written by Peg Pickering; 2nd Edition as the foundation, and various personal additions, internet sources and other books/writings.  The combination of all sources has been compiled into this manual for the express use of organizational training that will introduce others to a broadened viewpoint of the area of Personal Development and Business Development.

VISUALIZATION EXERCISE
EXERCISE #1


Read over the instructions for the exercise. 




TASK:

TIME :

ANSWERS:

Close your eyes and visualize yourself completing a task you’re faced with on tomorrow.   

*(Presenting a Budget Report)

Next open your eyes and write down the first (3) words that come to mind.

2 minutes

Ex:     Relief, Accomplishment, Capable.


Now write the opposite of each word you wrote previously.

1 minutes

Ex:     Pressured, Failure, Unsure

Answer the following questions:

1.  What obstacles are holding you back from the actions you saw in your visualization?

2.  What benefits would occur if you acted on the visualizations?

3.  Who /What could help you overcome the obstacles?



5 minutes

Ex:


1.     Lack of experience and clear plan of action.



2.     More confidence in my own ability.  A sense        of accomplishment for completing the task.  
   


3.     Someone with  the experience or obtaining training via the internet or another educational source.

JUMP START EXERCISE:  MIND-DUMP



        EXERCISE #2


Instructions:  Make a set of master lists of all the incomplete items running around in your brain … large and small.  Time and energy are wasted trying to mentally keep up with it all.  For the mind-dump list to be effective, it must be complete.  Create the following lists:



List #1             Projects List – write down every project, task, assignment that you can think of that you plan to do within the next 7 days.



Example:                                                           

PROJECTS LIST:

1.  Clear inbox at work
5.  Prepare Newsletter for Church
2.  Schedule Dentist Appointment
6.  Shop for Snack for Concession Meeting
3.  Do Laundry
7.  Finish Report for Staff Meeting
4.  Attend Parents Meeting
8.  Buy Outfit for Women’s Day



 

List #2        Accomplished List – write the days of the week and each day fill in a task you completed.  Also include those things that weren’t originally on your projects list that you completed.
